New Academies - A conference focusing on the lessons learnt from the first convertors by Winckworth Sherwood
Fri 01 Oct 2010
2.00pm - 5.00pm
Winckworth Sherwood
We are proud to have been able to support 5 schools who became new academies on 1st September. We also acted for the first multi academy trust to be established under the Academies Act 2010. The experience has been a challenging one for schools and the Department of Education. We are now focusing on the lessons learnt from the first schemes in order to help schools considering conversion weigh up the pros and cons and be prepared for what it is a complex process dealing with issues which will be new to schools. There will be an analysis of the legal documents as well as a discussion about the key policy objectives of the Department.
In this half day conference, you will hear from the experts at Winckworth Sherwood as well as from the head teacher and bursar of a school in the initial wave. We are delighted to be joined by Helen Hyde, President of the Foundation and Aided Schools National Association (FASNA) and head teacher of Watford Grammar School for Girls, who will chair the conference and talk about her personal experiences of converting.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions and to network with your peers. The indicative programme is set out below. We look forward to seeing you on the 1st.
