The Government are proposing significant changes which will improve the opportunity for Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in the private rented and student accommodation sectors (PRS).

Winckworth Sherwood is organizing a seminar on Wednesday 18th May 2011 as a part of the HM Treasury's consultation on the REIT regime at which our keynote speaker will be Kate Barker CBE.

Kate has had a long and varied career in the banking and housing sectors. She has formerly served on the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England before several other posts including board member at the Housing Corporation and later the Homes and Communities Agency. She is currently non-executive director at Taylor Wimpey.

Kate was also the author of an independent review of the housing sector in 2003 which formed the basis of the original Government paper promoting the REIT vehicle. She will be supported by speakers from the property and investment sectors.
