Schools and academies are "contracting authorities" for the purposes of the Procurement Regulations and therefore must comply with the onerous obligations set out in the legislation. The seminar will look at what these obligations are and when the Regulations apply. We will also explore best practice in putting in place contracts for services now that the market for services to schools has opened up considerably as a result of the Academies programme. It will also look at what services LAs are seeking to sell back to schools and how schools can get the best out of collaborative procurement and framework contracts.
