The focus will be on identifying and understanding the key financial risks affecting the academies as well as looking at recent changes to accounting practices for academies, such as the new obligations on Headteachers in their role as Accounting Officer, financial risk management, audit requirements and best practice. We will also look at the strategic picture for academies and offer an analysis on what we think the future holds for the sector.
The seminar will include a keynote address from Phil Eames, Head of Assurance at the Education Funding Agency (EFA) and a case study from Mary Charlesworth of Parkside Federation, Cambridge regarding the audit process. There is no charge for attending this seminar.
Who should attend?
This seminar will be of particular value to Headteachers in their role as Accounting Officer, Governors who sit on the Finance Committee, Responsible Officers, Company Secretaries, Bursars and Business Managers. We also recommend the seminar to those considering conversion to enable you to get a better impression of the financial implications of being an academy and existing academies who are preparing for an audit now or in the near future.
