Joanna Bussell and the team have worked with Bath and North East Somerset Council for a number of years, advising them on issues relating to the ownership and management of their heritage sites.
These include the Roman Baths, the Pump Room, the Fashion Museum and the Victoria Art Gallery.
Joanna, working with Museum and Tourist Consultants, advised the Council on options for the future management of the Council’s heritage services, reviewing their operation and, in particular, opportunities for income generation.
Following this options appraisal, Joanna advised on the creation of a Development Trust for the Council to assist with fundraising for a new educational centre, which has received round 1 funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The new education centre will provide access to parts of the Roman Baths which the public has never had access to before.
This was a hugely exciting project, developing an innovative model to develop a structured fundraising strategy to safeguard these hugely important assets for the public at large.
Joanna has advised on the establishment of Development Trusts for a number of local authority heritage, museum and arts assets, including:
- Epping Forest District Council
- Swindon Borough Council
- Blackpool Borough Council
