Tigers Woods' wife 'shopping around for a divorce lawyer'

Fri 18 Dec 2009

Elin Nordegren will not rush through a severance deal from golfer Tiger Woods and is shopping around for a divorce lawyer, it has been claimed.

ABC News is reporting that a source close to Nordegren said the divorce is "100 per cent on" after a number of women came forward to claim affairs with the sporting superstar.

Meanwhile, senior editor at People magazine Kate Coyne told the Good Morning America programme it is also her understanding that Nordegren is pressing ahead with the split.

The journalist said: "It would not appear that Elin Nordegren is going to be standing by her man. Sources have told us that … this marriage is over and she is looking to divorce."

Carol Ellinas, a partner of Winckworth Sherwood, commented: "'Shopping around' for a divorce lawyer is not a new phenomenon.

"She is not necessarily looking for a lawyer who can cut her the best deal. She feels betrayed and will be looking for someone who she believes can help her through this crisis.

"Likewise will Tiger Woods. This is not an opportunity to 'clean up' - ideally the lawyers will work together to achieve the best outcome for this divided family."

Numerous women have come forward in recent weeks with tales of alleged dalliances with Woods.

Details began to emerge after the golfer was found unconscious behind the wheel of his car outside his Florida home on November 27th 2009.

He has since been named Athlete of the Decade by Associated Press.
