AQA responds to Facebook protest over exam paper
Wed 27 Jan 2010
Exam board AQA has said it is aware of concerns surrounding an A-level exam paper which led to an online campaign from students.
Many of those who sat a biology exam this week alleged that it was unfair, because many of the questions did not relate to those areas of the syllabus they were asked to study.
Aggrieved students set up a Facebook group to register their displeasure, with some saying they feel "robbed" of their university places.
AQA has responded by saying it will take these concerns into account when the examinations are being marked.
The exam board also stated that they will be on the agenda at the awarding meeting in which final decisions about the grading structure will be discussed.
Meanwhile, a separate Facebook group has been set up by students who sat a biology exam from OCR on the same day.
People who took the exam used the social networking site to raise concerns over the relevance of the questions and warn that this could lead to them dropping grades.
