FSB calls for moratorium on employment law changes

The Federation of Small Business has warned that EU employment law reforms are harming many British enterprises.
John Wright, national chairman of the group, said ongoing changes in the law are undermining the competitiveness of small businesses in the UK.
He has therefore urged the EU to stop introducing new legislation until employers have "found their feet again" in the wake of the recession.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mr Wright said businesses should be able to create jobs and help stimulate the UK economy without interference from the EU.
He was speaking after a European Parliament committee backed plans to allow new mothers to take 20 weeks maternity leave on full pay, as opposed to 14.
The idea has already been criticised by the British Chambers of Commerce, which said companies are being "hamstrung" by new and costly maternity rules.
Director of policy Dr Adam Marshall added that the UK and other EU countries already have well-developed national maternity pay systems.
