Session Summary - Fuelling Ambition Series: The Investor Perspective
Wed 12 Dec 2012
Investment finance is critical to small and medium sized businesses with ambitions to grow. The final seminar in the Fuelling Ambition series provided delegates with an insight to the investor’s perspective from both sides of the financial fence – the private equity (PE) investor and the chief executive receiving investment.
Opening the morning was Andrew Nelson, Investment Director at CBPE Capital. He explained that PE investors deliver growth in one of three ways: through capital investment, through acquisitions, or by doing things better and more efficiently.
Andrew was joined by John Notman-Watt, the former Chief Executive of the Stewart Group concluded the morning with his experience on the receiving end of PE investment.
The Stewart Group provides inspection, analysis, certification and engineering consultancy services to the international mining and minerals sector. John led the MBI/MBO of The Stewart Group in 2006 with backing from CBPE. At the time, the Group was family owned, turning over €30m and making profits of €3m.
