Ruby Giblin - Winckworth Sherwood

Law firm Winckworth Sherwood has strengthened its market-leading Social Housing Finance team with the appointment of a new partner, Ruby Giblin.

Ruby joined the firm on 9 January 2017 from Clifford Chance, where she was a senior associate in its Real Estate Finance team.  She has a strong and respected track record of over 25 years in acting for lenders and facilitators to social housing providers and their related entities.  She brings to the firm a deep understanding of the social housing lending market and a wealth of specialist experience.

Winckworth Sherwood has one of the largest social housing teams in the UK, with over 90 lawyers.  It acts for all members of the G15, London’s largest housing associations, and a further 250 providers across the UK.  The firm has a 22-strong Social Housing Finance and Charging team, led by Partner Louise Leaver.

Winckworth Sherwood’s Social Housing Finance team has over the past two years been involved in some of the sector's largest, most innovative and highest profile transactions including:

  • Advising L&Q on a £175m bond funding from the Government-backed PRS Housing Guarantee Scheme;
  • Developing specific funding for shared ownership portfolios including the £44.3 million loan facility for Genesis Housing Association from Aviva;
  • Advising on funding and security aspects of various mergers including Affinity Sutton/Circle;
  • Developing a new platform for joint venture partnerships between registered providers and local authorities, with client First Wessex and Eastleigh Borough Council; and
  • Working on behalf of Genesis as co-sponsor in LINQ Housing, a new entity set up with LINQ partners, a private investment entity created by Centrus Advisers, and the initial financing of a portfolio of PRS properties.
