Family team expands with appointment of partner Emily Brand
Thu 24 May 2012
City Law firm Winckworth Sherwood continues to expand its Family team with the appointment of partner Emily Brand. Previously a director at a boutique matrimonial firm where she worked on a number of high profile and reported cases, Emily joined Winckworth Sherwood’s Family team on 22 May.
Emily Brand specialises in high-net-worth family cases and brings to Winckworth Sherwood considerable international experience. Her strength lies in combining strategic and commercial expertise with sensitivity and compassion for her clients’ individual circumstances. She has the technical know-how and drive to achieve imaginative solutions whether restricting access to wealth or unlocking it. She is particularly interested in post-nuptial agreements and strongly believes that, when possible, the care of children should be a shared endeavour.
Carol Ellinas, partner and head of Winckworth Sherwood’s Family team said: “Emily is a very talented and dedicated family lawyer. We are confident our clients will also be delighted that she has joined our team.”
Commenting on her appointment, Emily Brand said: “Winckworth Sherwood has a first class reputation in family law and is known for achieving outstanding results for its clients. The firm is an excellent fit with my own experience and I look forward to contributing to its ongoing success.”
Hugh MacDougald, partner and head of Private Client, Winckworth Sherwood, adds: “We are delighted with Emily’s decision to join the firm. She has a strong international reputation acting for many European nationals living and working in the UK. She will be a tremendous asset to the team and to the firm.”
Emily speaks fluent German and has lectured at the Free University in Berlin and at the University of Potsdam. She regularly gives seminars on the English common law system to the Berlin judiciary.
