Fulham Wharf development contracts exchanged

Winckworth Sherwood, acting for Barratt London in partnership with housing association London and Quadrant (L&Q), have through a joint venture vehicle, exchanged contracts with Sainsbury Plc to redevelop an 8.25 acre derelict industrial site at Fulham Wharf, London. The site has been bought on an unconditional basis with planning permission for 463 riverside apartments and a new superstore.
In addition to the superstore and housing it will include restaurants, cafes and bars, a crèche, a gym, landscaped gardens, a riverside walk and the use of a jetty to create an ecological area for riverside wildlife. The development will be delivered in two phases with phase one comprising the construction of the new 9,395 m2 superstore for Sainsbury’s together with 267 residential units of which 52 will be shared ownership. The residential blocks wrap around the new superstore as well as extending above the building and range from 7-17 storeys. Phase two comprises the demolition of the existing superstore and the construction of 196 units (14 social rented).
Winckworth Sherwood has been advising Barratt and L & Q on the transaction with Sainsbury.
