Mon 18 Jan 2010

Law firm Winckworth Sherwood has announced that leading partnership law and employment lawyer Jo Keddie, currently at Dawsons, will join the firm as a partner in the employment team on 1 April 2010. She will be bringing her team of Sue Kelly, also joining Winckworth Sherwood as a partner, Ellie Hibberd and Louise Lawrence.

With the addition of the new team in April, Winckworth Sherwood's employment department will comprise 4 partners and 7 assistants.

Jo Keddie qualified at Dawsons and has spent her 21 year career there. She is widely recognised by the leading legal directories and was acknowledged as an expert in the field of employment in The Lawyer's Hot 100 shortlist of leading lawyers for 2008. She is described by the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession as "a fantastic communicator who is easy to work with and makes the technicalities of employment law accessible."

Jo acts for both employers and employees as well as a number of professional partnerships. She has a particular specialism in partnership and discrimination issues, senior executives' departures, boardroom and shareholder disputes and regularly advises on restructuring and redundancy and contentious departures.

She has considerable experience of bringing claims in the High Court and the Employment Tribunal.

Sue Kelly, who also joins as a partner has over 20 years experience of commercial and employment related dispute resolution as well as significant expertise in UK and international employment disputes. They are supported by solicitors Ellie Hibberd and Louise Lawrence, who both have substantial contentious and non contentious experience.

Commenting on the team's appointment, Winckworth Sherwood managing partner, Roger Fitton said: "We are delighted to welcome Jo and Sue as partners and their team to the firm. Their considerable experience and significant market presence will further enhance our employment capability and their City and financial services expertise will strengthen our position and the service we offer to clients in this core strategic area."

Winckworth Sherwood head of employment David von Hagen added: "The firm has seen a significant growth in employment work over the past 2-3 years and the profile, high level expertise and experience Jo, Sue and their team have, will prove invaluable in strengthening our offering to clients in both the private and public sectors."
