Alexandra Reid
Position: Solicitor
Alex specialises in both contentious and non-contentious construction law and acts for a range of employer and contractor clients in both the public and private sectors including, registered social landlords, house-builders, private developers and charitable trusts.
She has prepared and negotiated standard form JCT design and build contracts, performed due diligence on building contracts, and negotiated other forms of contract, such as collateral and consultant warranties, CDM coordinator appointments and warranties and bonds and guarantees. Alex has also been involved in large value disputes such as acting for an RSL claiming against a contractor for defective workmanship and acting for the contractor in a potential adjudication. She also had experience of cases necessitating other forms of dispute resolution such as mediation.
Recent experience
- Acting on behalf of the employer in a claim against a contractor for defective/ negligent design/ workmanship.
- Acting for the employer on a Development project and considering possibility of a Build-Over Agreement.
- Advising a charitable client on its claim and potential settlement in relation to defective refurbishment work.
- Acting for the contractor in an adjudication where satisfactory completion of the works and variations to contract in dispute.
- Advising a registered social landlord on development of a multi-phase development and drafting and advising on the relevant construction documentation.
