Barry Gilham
Position: Solicitor
Barry qualified in 2009 and joined the Property Dispute Resolution Team. He advises on property disputes for a variety of corporate clients and individuals, Registered Social Landlords and charitable organisations with property portfolios. He also deals with telecommunications disputes.
Barry also advises on commercial lease disputes, in particular those arising under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
Recent experience
- Advising on possession applications involving Assured Shorthold Tenancies, assured tenancies and Rent Act protected tenancies
- Advising a Housing Association on dilapidation issues relating to a dispute from their tenant following service of terminal dilapidations schedule and advising on without prejudice negotiations and settlement
- Assisting and advising on a high court proceedings concerning opposition to a significant large scale development of a school and ‘learning village’ in East London
- Advising a police authority and a Registered Social Landlord relating to breaches of lease covenants, more specifically the unlawful granting of assured tenancies and breach of repair, alteration and dilapidation obligations
- Assisting and advising charitable organisation on landlord and tenant issues concerning tenant insolvency and recovery of rent, including the implications of the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995.
