Charlotte Taylor

Position: Solicitor

Charlotte specialises in commercial litigation.  She advises both individual and corporate clients across a broad scope of industry sectors on a range of contentious issues including contractual disputes, intellectual property disputes, company and shareholder disputes, judicial review, and contentious insolvency. Charlotte acts for UK clients, as well as for overseas clients in disputes subject to English law or jurisdiction.

Charlotte has experience acting at the various stages in the lifetime of a dispute, from risk management, pre-action negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation, through to trial and enforcement.

Recent experience

  • Acting for overseas clients in registering foreign judgments to enforce claims against individuals with UK assets, including obtaining final charging orders over property and shares
  • Representing/advising a Belgian textile manufacturer in a dispute with its UK agent under the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993 and in relation to the measure and assessment of damages payable upon termination
  • Acting for Defendants in cUS$100m proceedings in the High Court in connection with a dispute regarding the ownership of various entities that constitute a family business
  • Acting for a major railway provider in a judicial review claim in the Administrative Court and Court of Appeal
  • Acting for a council in a judicial review claim seeking to quash a combined local authority’s consultation process
  • Acting for a school in defending a claim against a provider of workplace services
  • Advising a provider of online foreign exchange trading services in relation to the effective termination of a contract
  • Taking action to successfully remove defamatory online posts
  • Acting for an individual Claimant in a dispute relating to the proceeds arising from the sale of four freehold investment properties
  • Acting for a housing association in connection with a dispute arising from an agreement for the provision of funding for approved educational courses
  • Acting for Defendants as trustees of a religious charity in relation to a claim regarding the disposal of assets of the charity
  • Acting for a railway provider in defending a claim by a company that specialises in locomotive restoration
  • Advising and representing joint-liquidators in a claim against a former company director in relation to declaration/payment of dividend in the period leading up to the company’s liquidation
  • Advising and acting on behalf of either creditors or debtors in bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings
  • Advising and acting for Claimants or Defendants in debt recovery proceedings
