Jacqueline Major

Position: Solicitor

Jacqueline is a solicitor within the Private Client department. She specialises in Family Law and Contentious Probate matters. Jacqueline has experience in most, if not all aspects of family law and particularly in high asset divorces, prenuptial agreements and cohabitation disputes. Her contentious probate work encompasses disputes over the validity of wills, trusts disputes and Inheritance Act claims for those seeking to challenge the provisions of wills. She also has experience in acting for clients involved in mediation. Jacqueline is also trained as a Collaborative Lawyer.

Recent experience

Jacqueline acted for a successful businessman in his divorce and financial provision matter. One of the main issues was the relevance of a £60million offshore Trust, and whether it was deemed a matrimonial asset.

She also represented a London socialite in her family matters which have involved variation of maintenance from her ex husband, advice on relocation of children to a foreign country and a complex prenuptial agreement drafted in the US. Jacqueline worked closely with a leading Law firm in New York.

She acted for a client who owns a chain of restaurants across London and the South East. This was a cohabitation dispute, with applications for child maintenance, applications regarding property in England and in Dubai, and a claim over various businesses allegedly run as a partnership.

She also has represented professional men and women in matters ranging from divorce and financial provision, cohabitation agreements and disputes, residence and contact proceedings concerning children. Jacqueline also has specialist knowledge in drafting prenuptial agreements and recently gave a seminar on this very topical area.

Jacqueline also represented a celebrity in a contentious probate matter, concerning the validity of a will. She was successful in negotiating a settlement of all the matters in dispute, avoiding the need to have a public trial.
