Leo Stevens
Position: Solicitor
Leo specialises in property matters for educational, charitable and institutional clients. He has experience in all aspects of general commercial property transactions as well as specific types of transactions relating to educational and charitable bodies including academies, foundation and voluntary schools. He also has experience in the sale and purchase of development sites, selling properties at auction and advising in relation to town planning matters.
Recent experience
- Being responsible for a team of lawyers dealing with all property matters relating to academy conversions. This includes drafting and negotiating leases with local authorities, transferring freehold land to the academy trust company, dealing with charges, restrictions and other title matters and drafting supplemental agreements and trust modification orders where appropriate
- Acting for the governing body of several foundation schools in respect of proceedings with the Schools Adjudicator and the transfer of land
- Acting for the governing body of a foundation school in respect of a dispute with a community association with whom it shared premises
- Acting for a Community Interest Company in respect of the drafting and negotiating of 12 leases of premises from a NHS trust.
- Selling several portfolios of properties at auction on behalf of a client including setting up an extranet site for prospective purchasers to view all sale documentation
